The Economy and the School System
The economy is going down the drain at the present moment. People are worried about their debts along with many other consequences that the bad economy is bringing. The bottom line is that there must be a problem with the system.
Kids are educated to go by what they are told. They are taught to follow orders, no matter what the orders are. Teachers will say to do completely ridiculous things like, "Do a 30 page paper by Friday" and the kids in the class will comply. There are no questions asked. There is only a slight groaning that fades into a dying sob.
Let's face it. Americans are not the kind of people to think outside of the box. We do what we have always done no matter what that means for us. Times are changing, we should too. When you look around at the world, you may begin to notice that the old ways have not changed. Same school system, same jobs, and same ideas. Sure we have learned to expand on ideas that are given to us, but when was the last time we came up with our own ideas?
There are many ways to fix the economy, we just aren't capable of seeing them yet. Our secluded minds do not even know that we have other choices.
We need change and we need it soon.

Teachers
Don't get me wrong, I love some of my teachers. Some of them are smart, funny, intelligent, and have many more traits that are excellent in a great teacher. This may be the case with some teachers, but I have found that most teachers think they are better teachers than they actually are. One of my mediocre teachers actually bluntly stated when I asked her why she took up teaching "I have always wanted to become a teacher." This is showing that even bad teachers say they enjoy teaching.
I think bad teachers enjoy teaching not because they love kids, or because they want to expand the minds of children, but because they have power in the classroom that they just don't normally have in the real world. They can say shut up and instantly they have a classroom of quiet and obedient kids. They can threaten to lower a kid's grade if they do something wrong, or "perform inadequately" in the teachers eyes. They just don't have that power in the real world. Imagine a teacher coming home from work one day and saying to his/her spouse "shut up and make me dinner." I don't think the spouse of that teacher is going to be around much longer.
So what I am trying to get at here is that teachers have too much power. The grades should not be governed based on "how much a teacher likes you." Teachers should also not become teachers just for the power, they should become teachers because they want kids to learn something new exciting in new and exciting ways.

Our Corrupt School System
"Welcome to class, today we will be discussing..." Here is something I hear a lot, "People who do not like school are just sour because they are getting bad grades." I am here to tell you that this is false. I, along with many of my friends, am getting straight A's, yet can still not stand the sight of school.
The education system is in dire need of many improvements.
First, people need to realize that kids do not learn the same way. Second, the kids who are doing well should not be forced to go to school every day. This is just a ridiculous waste of time and an excuse for teachers to make more money. Lastly and most importantly, BAD TEACHERS NEED TO BE FIRED. This teacher union thing is not helping the education in America at all. It just allows all teachers after 1-2 years to stop doing any work. Some may argue that people should get paid the same amount for a given job, even if they are lazy and incompetent. If this is true, then why do kids get graded based on the effort that they put into something, while teachers are not fired when they do not perform adequately.
Those were just a few of the many problems with America's school system.
By the way, I am a high school student at the present time.
